Problem: SmartWealth’s onboarding and ID verification flow felt unclear — vague labels, weak guidance, and low readability (inconsistent fonts + grey-on-grey text) made users hesitate during sensitive steps like uploading an ID and recording a verification video.

 

Goal: Create a trust-first onboarding experience that makes it obvious what to do next, shows progress clearly, and helps users complete verification quickly and confidently on both iOS and Android.

 

My role: Led the UX case study + onboarding redesign — ran usability testing on the existing app, defined the problem, created a persona and user stories, benchmarked competitor patterns, then designed and prototyped native iOS + Android screens in Figma.

 

Solution: Designed a guided onboarding flow with:A clearer “Get full access” overview with stronger hierarchy and a single primary CTAA step-by-step Verify ID process (Upload front/back → Video → Submitted)Improved labels and statuses (removing vague “Pending” and reducing repeated “Submit”)Better readability and accessibility (consistent typography + higher contrast)A complete interactive prototype showing success states and progress updates.
